It's Time to Grow Up! Matilda, Starring Bertie Carvel & Lauren Ward, Opens on Broadway

It's time to answer all the questions, fight all the creatures and get a little bit naughty! The Broadway musical Matilda, starring Bertie Carvel as Miss Trunchbull and four young performers (Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon and Milly Shapiro) sharing the title role, officially opens at the Shubert Theatre on April 11.

Matilda is the story of an extraordinary girl who dreams of a better life. Armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her destiny. Based on the beloved Roald Dahl novel of the same name, the musical features a book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.

The cast of Matilda also includes Lauren Ward as Miss Honey, Lesli Margherita as Miss Wormwood, Gabriel Ebert as Mr. Wormwood and Karen Aldridge as Mrs. Phelps.

Matilda features choreography by Peter Darling, set and costume design by Rob Howell, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone and sound design by Simon Baker.
